This has been Gigglebug’s first quest into feature film quality animation production! The results are absolutely beautiful and we are so proud of this 8 minute film which premiered in December 2022 across the Nordics, as part of “The Nordic Christmas Hour”, with six other animated short films based on the works of famous Nordic storytellers.
Never before have the Moomin Characters been rendered in this style, in high quality 2D with light and shadow and painterly texture. The directorial vision of Jean Michel and Kari brought out something that we hope will last for decades as part of the Holiday Programming in the Nordics.
In the production, Gigglebug handled the full pipeline including script, storyboard, animatic, character design, location design, layout, bg, animation, clean up, compositing, music and sound.
